Ofsted success for Greenways Primary Academy

12th March 2025

Greenways Primary Academy, part of ¿ìߣÊÓƵ, is delighted to announce the publication of its recent Ofsted report, following an inspection in January 2025.  Ofsted saw that the school has made significant improvements across all areas since its previous ‘Good’ inspection, paving the way for a future graded inspection.

Ofsted inspectors praised the school's commitment to its motto, "Aim high and be a star," highlighting the ambitious curriculum and exceptional behaviour of pupils. The report noted that pupils achieve high standards across the curriculum and are well-prepared for the next stage in their education.

Key highlights from the Ofsted report include:

  • Exceptional Behaviour: Pupils demonstrate exceptional behaviour, politeness, and high motivation to learn.

  • Ambitious Curriculum: The curriculum is carefully designed to build knowledge effectively towards ambitious outcomes.

  • High Standards in Core Subjects: Pupils achieve high standards in reading and mathematics.

  • Strong Early Years Provision: The early years environment is welcoming, and children achieve strong foundations for future learning.

  • Effective Support for SEND: Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities receive expert support and achieve ambitious outcomes.

  • Enriching Experiences: Pupils benefit from a broad range of extra-curricular activities and memorable experiences, including trips to London for dance workshops and theatre shows.

  • Strong Leadership: Trustees and the Local Governing Board demonstrate high ambition and effectively support the school.

Inspectors were particularly impressed by the school's focus on reading, with staff expertly teaching early reading and fostering a love of reading through initiatives like the "mini mentors" reading club in the "hobbit house." The report also highlighted the school's strong mathematics provision and the nurturing environment in the early years.

Jemma Garside, Executive Headteacher at Greenways Primary Academy, said: "I am incredibly proud of the Ofsted report which captures everything that we believe in and pride ourselves on at Greenways. The report reflects the hard work and dedication of all our staff, pupils, and the entire school community. We are committed to providing an exceptional education for all our pupils that prepares them for their future education journey, and this report is a testament to our ongoing efforts to ensure that every child can thrive."

Dawn Haywood, CEO of ¿ìߣÊÓƵ, added, "This is a fantastic and well deserved achievement for Greenways Primary Academy. The report clearly demonstrates the positive impact of the school's ambitious vision and the trust's commitment to providing exceptional educational experiences. We are incredibly proud of the school’s success and look forward to building on this."
